This next imposter butter is for our fellow sensitive foodies. Violife Plant Butter is free of animal animal products/byproducts, soy, gluten, and dairy, is vegan, and is non-GMO. It spreads, cooks, and bakes great. However, when using it for baking, you do need to take a little extra care to make sure it is completely combined into whatever you are making. It tends to want to stay together more so than the other plant butter discussed prior. Flavor-wise it translates well as a replacement for regular dairy butter in any recipe. It leaves that fat-film feeling of real butter when eating it as a spread or mixing it directly into a dish like mashed potatoes. This plant butter has become my solid number 2 within the kitchen, and rightfully so. The consistency is very close to true butter. Fresh out of the fridge, it is hard to tell the two apart. As the Plant butter begins to reach room temperature, it is still able to maintain its structure. The flavor does begin to change slightly at room temp and does not taste as delectable as if you consistently store it in the fridge. Originally this butter was a little harder to obtain, but now you can find it at major grocery stores at reasonable prices. In my area, Walmart, Whole Foods, Fresh Thyme, and some of the local stores around me are starting to carry it as well.
