Welcome back into the world of sweet recommendations!
The next sugar-free replacement we will be talking about is:

Lakanto Monk Fruit Sweetener

Lakanto Monk Fruit Sweetener is zero calories, zero-glycemic sweetener that is just like white sugar. Lakanto Monk Fruit contains: Non-GMO erythritol and Monk Fruit extract.

This sweetener is more for the people that prefer things on the less sweet side. It is labeled as a 1:1, but when I've used it in baked goods and sweets, it hasn't carried over as such. I tend to use a little more than what recipes call for since it isn't as sweet. Monk fruit also has a flavor to it that DOES carry throughout whatever you are making. Not a bad taste just you will know that you used monk instead of real sugar because of its unique taste. For example, if you made waffles and you put sugar on one and syrup on the other, they both would be sweet but they each have their own taste. It is the same for monk. It has its own unique taste. The main negative point that this sweetener gets, is the fact it contains the sugar alcohol 'erythritol' as it's main source of sweetener. Erythritol falls into a bad category for me personally, just like stevia. Also, the problem with sugar alcohols is, you don't know where they come from. Some are created from natural resources like fruits and veggies, while others are artificially made from chemicals. Regardless of their origin, they still can cause similar issues to Stevia. They can cause GI issues, bloating, and even weight gain if you have a high intolerance to them. The body can end up not knowing how to disperse the sugar alcohols since they cannot be digested and broken down like normal sugar, which can lead to issues if you are sensitive or intolerant of it. However, there are still many who vouch for how useful this sweetener is. I still think it is a great staple to have in the kitchen for sugar-free individuals. It is just a sweetener I don't personally feel is extremely universal, but it still can shine in certain cooking creations when used in moderation for sensitive tummies ;)
